Remember, Remember the 4th of November

I 100% understand people who say they don’t ever want to work. I don’t immediately interpret the statement as them being lazy. I think about how these corporations will work people to damn death and not even give them a bonus at the end of the year but somehow the CEO STILL gets a bonus. I think about all of the people who are swimming in a sea of student loan debt to obtain multiple degrees that are supposed to mean something more than being a piece of paper…while working at a job that doesn’t even pay average market rate. I think about how sore my body is after work but I don’t do manual labor. I literally sit in a chair in front of a computer everyday and keep businesses afloat.

This kind of work is not enjoyable.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask that workplaces be tolerable in comforting ways. We spend more of our time lining the pockets of the highest paid employees and the owners than we do saving up for retirement. We’re often at the mercy of senior leadership cutting corners and costs every chance they get to maintain a budget that never seems to cut their livelihood to the same degree of their employees. Instant mood killer.

I wanted this November writing to not have any dreary posts but fuck it…if this only serves as a reminder to not give up on doing something more fulfilling than the current job I have, then that’s exactly what I’m going to let this post be.

Fuck these run on sentences. I’m exhausted.
